The Cleveland Cavaliers get Jamario Moon back involved with the team

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Sunday 13 February 2011 at 3:02 am

30-year old small forward Jamario Moon only played in six games in January as Byron Scott seemed to be phasing him out.  But this month he’s getting back into a groove off the bench for the Cavs.  Moon has played in 5 games so far in February and he is averaging 17.8 minutes, 5.4 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 1.2 blocked shots per game on 52.4% shooting from the floor.  Moon has now played in 36 games (13 starts) for the Cavaliers so far this year and he is averaging 18.6 minutes, 4.5 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game.  He is only shooting 39.4% from the floor so far this year and he is only 20 of 83 (24.1%) from three point range this year.  The Cavaliers might be just showcasing Moon for a deal with the trade deadline fastly approaching.

Mo Williams is about ready to return for the Cleveland Cavaliers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injuries,Need to step up,Steppin Up by admin on Monday 7 February 2011 at 11:42 pm

28-year old starting point guard Mo Williams has been out a little over a month due to a hip problem but he’s getting ready to return to action.  Williams has played in 33 games (32 starts) for the Cavs so far this year and he is averaging 30.4 minutes, 13.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game.  Williams’ shooting has been way off so far this year as he is only hitting 38.7% from three point range and 26.6% from behind the three point line.  The Cavaliers are glad to get Williams back as they want to showcase him for a deal before the trade deadline.  Part of the reason the Cavs don’t mind moving Williams is due to the recent play of 24-year old Ramon Sessions.  In his last three games, Sessions is averaging 38.3 minutes, 20.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, 9.0 assists and 1.0 steal per game on 61.8% shooting from the floor.  Sessions has played in 50 games (18 starts) for the Cavaliers so far this year and he is averaging 25.0 minutes, 11.5 points, 2.8 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game.

J.J. Hickson is stepping up for he Cleveland Cavaliers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Tuesday 1 February 2011 at 7:33 pm

21-year old J.J. Hickson is stepping up for the Cavaliers.  He has broken down the door of Byron Scott’s Dog House and he has been getting solid minutes since Anderson Varejao was lost for the year.  He is making the most of the increased playing time as the starting center for the Cavaliers.  Although undersized, Hickson has been piling up the rebounds and blocked shots as of late.  Hickson played in 16 games in January for the Cavaliers in which he averaged 28.7 minutes, 13.3 points, 10.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.3 blocked shots.  He has now played in 46 games (32 starts) for the Cavs so far this year and he is averaging 24.6 minutes, 11.2 points, 6.9 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game.  Hickson does need to improve his shooting a tad as he is only hitting 43.2% of his shots from the floor and 63.6% of his free throws and that’s just not good enough.  Look for Hickson to get big minutes the rest of the season.  The Cavs need Hickson to continue stepping up the rest of the way.

Antawn Jamison is on fire in January for the Cleveland Cavaliers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Wednesday 26 January 2011 at 1:27 am

34-year old power forward Antawn Jamison is on fire for the Cavs so far this January.  Jamison has played in 12 games so far this month and he is averaging 36.9 minutes, 23.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.2 steals per game.  He has now played in 41 games (23 starts) for the Cavaliers so far this year and he is averaging 31.5 minutes, 17.3 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.  Teams are going to be calling the Cavs about  dealing for Jamison but they shouldn’t move him unless they get a fair return which should include a first round draft pick.

Daniel Gibson is starting to heat up for the Cleveland Cavaliers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Wednesday 26 January 2011 at 1:24 am

24-year old SG/PG Daniel Gibson is starting to heat up for the Cleveland Cavaliers.  In his last four games, Gibson is averaging 35.5 minutes, 15.0 points, 1.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game.  He has now played in 36 games (13 starts) for the Cavs so far this year and he is averaging 29.9 minutes, 13.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.  Gibson is also shooting an amazing 45% from three point range for the Cavs so far this year.  Gibson is starting to show that he’s much more than a shooter, which was his only role when LeBron was in town.

Ramon Sessions is stepping up for the Cleveland Cavaliers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Thursday 20 January 2011 at 5:59 pm

With Mo Williams down for a while, the Cavs are turning to 24-year old point guard Ramon Sessions to run the offense.  In his last three games, Sessions is averaging 34.0 minutes, 18.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, 7.7 assists and 1.7 steals per game.  The Cavs need him to keep up the good work.  Sessions has now played in 39 games (7 starts) for the Cavs so far this year and he is averaging 22.9 minutes, 10.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game.  I expect Sessions to keep playing well with Mo Williams out of action.

Manny Harris is getting hot for the Cleveland Cavaliers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Rookie Report,Steppin Up by admin on Monday 10 January 2011 at 4:43 pm

21-year old, undrafted rookie shooting guard Manny Harris is stepping up for the Cleveland Cavaliers.  With Daniel Gibson out for this road trip, the Cavs needed someone to step up at shooting guard and Harris has been that guy so far.  In his last two games, Harris is averaging 38.5 minutes, 21.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.3 steals per game.  Harris has now played in 16 games (4 starts) for the Cavs so far this year and he is averaging 13.8 minutes, 4.2 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game.  He is only shooting 37.7% from the floor but I think that will improve with more playing time.  This season looks lost for the Cavaliers so they need to keep giving Harris minutes to see what they have in him.

Antawn Jamison is really in a groove right now for the Cleveland Cavaliers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Tuesday 4 January 2011 at 5:36 pm

34-year old power forward Antawn Jamison has really been hot for the Cleveland Cavaliers as of late.  In his last five games, Jamison is averaging 35.8 minutes, 23.4 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game on 51.1% shooting from the floor.  Jamison has now played in 31 games (13 starts) this season for the Cavs and he is averaging 29.8 minutes, 15.5 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game.  Jamison has been the Cavaliers’ go to man on offense and I don’t see that changing any time soon.

Mo Williams is on fire right now for the Cleveland Cavaliers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Tuesday 28 December 2010 at 12:36 am

28-year old point guard Mo Williams is on a roll lately as he has a double/double streak of 5 games in a row.  In his last five games, Williams is averaging 38.8 minutes, 19.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 11.4 assists per game.  Williams has now played in 25 games (24 starts) for the Cavaliers so far this year and he is averaging 30.8 minutes, 15.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game.  His shooting is still down overall (40.5% from the floor and 28.3% from three point range so far this year) but it’s picking up as of late.  If the Cavaliers don’t start winning some games soon I think they are going to deal Williams to a contender.

Anderson Varejao is really picking up the pace in December for the Cleveland Cavaliers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Sunday 19 December 2010 at 4:15 pm

28-year old center Anderson Varejao has really picked up the pace in December for the Cavs.  Varejao has played in 10 games so far in December and he’s averaging 31.1 minutes, 10.5 points, 10.7 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.2 blocked shots per game on 55.8% shooting from the floor.  He has now played in 25 games (all starts) so far this year for the Cavs and he is averaging 31.3 minutes, 9.4 points, 9.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.1 blocked shots per game.  The Cavaliers feed off Varejao’s injury and last night’s win over  the Knicks showed that.  They need him to keep playing like he is right now, the rest of the year.
