Delonte West has been awful this season for the Cleveland Cavaliers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Need to step up by alleyoop on Friday 27 November 2009 at 9:02 am

The Cavaliers are lucky that they signed Anthony Parker over the summer because Delonte West is a mess right now. He has played in 7 games (0 starts) for the Cavs so far this season and he is averaging 19.1 minutes, 4.7 points, 1.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. The Cavaliers would probably like to trade West but he has little value right now because of his legal issues and the fact that he is bipolar. The Cavs seem to be missing something without West on the basketball court so they need him to pick his game back up.

Cleveland Cavaliers 97, Miami Heat 90

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game recaps,Need to step up by alleyoop on Tuesday 22 January 2008 at 8:46 pm

The Cavaliers got a nice win over the sinking Miami Heat last night. LeBron James led the way for the Cavs with 28 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Zydrunas Ilgauskas also had a good game with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Drew Gooden pitched in with 11 points and 5 rebounds. The Cavaliers improved to 22-18 on the season with this win.

The Cleveland Cavaliers need to bench Larry Hughes

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Need to step up,Uncategorized by alleyoop on Saturday 5 January 2008 at 2:57 pm

Mike Brown is proving that he’s not a good coach by starting Larry Hughes out of position at point guard over Daniel Gibson who has played well all season. Hughes has been hoisting brick after brick all season long because he thinks he’s a jump shooter and he’s not a good one. Hughes is a shooting guard who is best on the fast break or on drives to the basket. Hughes has played in 19 games so far this season for the Cavs and he is averaging 28.1 minutes, 9.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game. He is shooting an awful 32.7% from the floor and 26.7% from three point range which just proves that he should take a seat on the bench. Daniel Gibson on the other hand is an outstanding shooter as he’s hit 47.1% from the floor and 48.7% from three point range which is outstanding. Gibson has now played in 31 games this season for the Cavs and he is averaging 33.2 minutes, 12.5 points, 2.6 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. He deserves to start and play big minutes.

The Cleveland Cavs need more from Sasha Pavlovic and Devin Brown

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Need to step up by alleyoop on Tuesday 11 December 2007 at 9:59 pm

Sasha Pavlovic and Devin Brown are having a rough time in December so far. Pavlovic has started 4 games this month and he has averaged 25.0 minutes, 6.3 points, 1.5 rebounds, 0.8 assists and 1.0 steal per game. Pavlovic is only shooting 27.8% from the floor this month and that’s not good for him with Larry Hughes returning from injury. Devin Brown has played in 4 games (1 start) this month and he’s averaging 19.0 minutes, 4.3 points, 1.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. Brown will likely find himself at the end of the bench unless he starts playing better soon.

The Cleveland Cavaliers need Pavlovic and Brown to step up

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Need to step up by alleyoop on Tuesday 4 December 2007 at 5:14 pm

With Larry Hughes out with an injury the Cavs need Sasha Pavlovic and Devin Brown to step up. Pavlovic started the season a tad late due to a contract dispute and he doesn’t appear sharp yet. He has played in 15 games so far this season and he’s averaged 29.1 minutes, 9.4 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. His shooting has also been off as he’s only hitting 37.2% from the floor. Devin Brown has taken over as the backup shooting guard spot until Hughes returns and the Cavs expected much more than they’ve got from him so far this season. Brown has played 17 games so far this season and he’s averaging 22.8 minutes, 6.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. He also needs to improve his shooting as he’s only hit 35.4% of his shots from the floor and 65.8% from the free throw line so far this year.

The Cleveland Cavaliers need more from Donyell Marshall

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Need to step up by alleyoop on Thursday 12 April 2007 at 12:41 pm

Donyell Marshall is in a huge slump in April. In the 5 games Marshall has played this month he’s only averaged 9.4 minutes, 1.0 point, 1.8 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game. He also is only shooting 13.3% from the floor and has only hit 1 of 10 shots from three-point range. Marshall’s a very important player to the success of the Cavs so he needs to get his act together with the playoffs approaching.

The Cavs need Sasha Pavlovic to step up

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Need to step up by alleyoop on Sunday 11 March 2007 at 9:58 pm

The Cavs have moved Sasha Pavlovic into the starting lineup but he hasn’t taken advantage of his opportunity yet. He’s started 5 of the last 6 games for the Cavs and in those 6 games, Pavlovic in only averaging 5.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 steal per game. He’s also shooting only 31% in those games! The Cavs need more from him or he’ll have to return to the bench.

David Wesley is looking like he’s toast

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Need to step up by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 13 February 2007 at 4:07 pm

The Cavaliers were expecting Wesley to provide decent minutes off the bench behind Larry Hughes but he’s been awful this season and now he’s buried on the bench. He has played in only 27 games this season and has averaged 11.1 minutes, 2.3 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. He’s also only hitting 29.7% from the floor this season which has really hurt the Cavs when he’s on the floor. Look for him to continue being buried on the bench as Sasha Pavlovic has taken over his old job.

Cavs finally replace Eric Snow in the starting lineup

Blogged under Big Cavaliers News,Front Page,Need to step up by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 30 January 2007 at 1:27 pm

Rookie Daniel Gibson will be the starting point guard tonight for the Cavs and it’s about time! Gibson is very energetic on the floor and he’s not scared to shoot the way Eric Snow is. Snow was only averaging 5.0 points and 4.5 assists per game and that just doesn’t get it done no matter how well he plays on defense.

Larry Hughes needs to step up

Blogged under Front Page,Need to step up by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 23 January 2007 at 2:10 pm

Hughes has been pathetic lately and it’s hurting the Cavs offense as a whole. In his last 7 games he’s averaged 12.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.3 steals per game. The Cavs need him to score about 17 or 18 points a game for the offense to really click. But that will be hard to do if he doesn’t shoot better soon. In his last 7 games he’s only hitting 33.3% of his shots from the floor and that is plain awful.
