Moon has played in 31 games (0 starts) for the Cavs this season and he is averaging 17.8 minutes, 5.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. The Cavs will miss Moon’s energy and defense off the bench. Anthony Parker, Delonte West and Daniel Gibson will likely share Moon’s minutes while he is out of action.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are having problems at center right now

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injuries,Need to step up by alleyoop on Friday 27 November 2009 at 9:06 am

Shaquille O’Neal and Zydrunas Ilgauskas were supposed to combine to give the Cavaliers outstanding production at center this season but that just hasn’t happened yet. Shaq has missed the last six games with a strained shoulder. He has played in 9 games (all starts) for the Cavaliers this season and he is averaging 24.3 minutes, 11.3 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.6 blocked shots per game. Big Z has not stepped up while Shaq has been out of action. He has played in 15 games (6 starts) for the Cavs this season and he is averaging 24.9 minutes, 7.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, 0.7 assists and 1.3 blocked shots. His shooting stroke has also been way off as he is only hitting 37.4% from the floor. The Cavaliers need both Shaq and Z healthy to get the team back to full force.

Zydrunas Ilgauskas will miss some time for the Cleveland Cavaliers

Blogged under Big Cavaliers News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injuries by alleyoop on Thursday 13 March 2008 at 8:50 am

Zydrunas Ilgauskas will miss at least another week with a strained back. He has played in 58 games (all starts) for the Cavs this season and he is averaging 30.5 minutes, 13.5 points, 9.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.7 blocked shots per game. Anderson Varejao will replace big Z in the starting lineup and he should be able to provide the defense and rebounding Z does, but he’s nowhere near the offensive player that Ilgauskas is.

Daniel Gibson to miss the next 4-6 weeks for the Cleveland Cavaliers

Blogged under Big Cavaliers News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injuries by alleyoop on Friday 22 February 2008 at 3:38 am

2nd year point guard Daniel Gibson will miss the next 4-6 weeks with a severely sprained left ankle. Gibson has played in 48 games (26 starts) for the Cavs this season and he is averaging 31.9 minutes, 11.5 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. Gibson is probably the best pure shooter on the Cavs as he is hitting 45.7% of his shots from the floor, 47.6% of his three point attempts and 80.7% of his free throws. Look for Delonte West and Damon Jones to replace Gibson in the Cavs lineup. Jones has played in 46 games (0 starts) this season for the Cavs and he is averaging 19.4 minutes, 5.9 points, 1.0 rebound and 1.5 assists per game. Jones’ main skill is shooting three pointers as he’s hit 41.4% from long range this season.

Cleveland Cavaliers 98, Los Angeles Clippers 84

Blogged under Bloglockers,Game recaps,General,Injuries by alleyoop on Monday 4 February 2008 at 1:18 am

The Cavaliers outrebounded the Clippers 50-35 on Saturday Night and that’s a huge reason for the win. LeBron James led the way for the Cavs with 28 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals. Zydrunas Ilgauskas also had a solid game with 22 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocked shots. Drew Gooden pitched in with 14 points and 12 rebounds. The Cavs are now 26-20 on the season.

The Cleveland Cavaliers lose Anderson Varejao

Blogged under Big Cavaliers News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injuries by alleyoop on Monday 28 January 2008 at 8:46 pm

The Cavaliers will likely be without reserve forward/center Anderson Varejao for up to a month with a Grade 2 Ankle Sprain. Varejao has played in 22 games (0 starts) this season for the Cavaliers and he is averaging 28.5 minutes, 7.8 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. Drew Gooden and Zydrunas Ilguaskas will likely see a bump in playing time with “Wild Thing” out of action. Gooden has played in 43 games (all starts) this season for the Cavs and he is averaging 31.3 minutes, 11.5 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game. Big “Z” has played in 43 games (all starts) this season and he is averaging 30.3 minutes, 13.7 points, 9.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.4 blocked shots per game.

The Cleveland Cavaliers lose Sasha Pavlovic for 6-8 weeks

Blogged under Big Cavaliers News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injuries by alleyoop on Monday 28 January 2008 at 8:43 pm

The Cavs have lost starting shooting guard Sasha Pavlovic for the next 6-8 weeks due to a mid foot sprain. Pavlovic has played in 38 games (35 starts) this season for the Cavaliers and he is averaging 24.5 minutes, 7.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. He has never found his shooting touch this season either as he’s only hitting 35.1% of his shots from the floor. Daniel Gibson will likely pick up some of Pavlovic’s playing time and that’s a good thing. Gibson has played in 41 games (26 starts) this season and he is averaging 32.6 minutes, 11.9 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. Gibson also is a good shooter from anywhere on the court as he is hitting 45.4% of his shots from the floor, 46.8% of his three point attempts and 79.8% of his free throws. Devin Brown could also see a bump in playing time while Pavlovic is out. Brown has played in 39 games (2 starts) this season and he is averaging 20.8 minutes, 6.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. Brown is only shooting 39.7% from the floor and the Cavs need him to improve on that.

The Cleveland Cavaliers lose Larry Hughes for a while

Blogged under Big Cavaliers News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Injuries by alleyoop on Wednesday 21 November 2007 at 5:12 pm

Starting shooting guard Larry Hughes will miss the next four weeks with a deep bone bruise in his left leg. Hughes has not played well at all for the Cavs this season. He has played in 6 games (all starts) and he has averaged 27.3 minutes, 6.8 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.7 steals per game. Hughes has been heaving bricks up to the rim in alarming fashion as he has only hit 29.3% of his shots from the floor and 66.7% from the free throw line so far this season. Sasha Pavlovic has taken over as the starting shooting guard for now and he isn’t playing that well either. Pavlovic has played in 8 games (5 starts) so far this season and he has averaged 24.6 minutes, 6.5 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. He also isn’t shooting the ball too well as he has only hit 32.8% of his shots this season. Devin Brown will also see a bump in minutes as a result of Hughes injury. He has played in 10 games (0 starts) so far this season and he has averaged 24.3 minutes, 7.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.

Rookie point guard Daniel Gibson will miss the next two weeks with a sprained toe. He has played in 45 games and he’s averaged 17.3 minutes, 5.2 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game so far this season. Gibson really does a good job of pushing the ball up court on offense and they will likely miss him the next two weeks.

The team doctors have told LeBron James to take a few days games off to rest his hurt toe. It will be interesting to see how the Cavs play while he is out. They are 1-0 this season and 7-2 with him out over his career.
