The Cavaliers showed a lot of heart last night but they just couldn’t finish.  J.J. Hickson (22 points, 16 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 blocked shot) and Ramon Sessions (20 points, 6 rebounds, 10 assists and 1 blocked shot) led the way for the Cavs in this game.  Antawn Jamison finished up with 16 points, 4 rebounds and 1 steal in 30 minutes before breaking his left pinky finger which ended his night.  Samardo Samuels stepped up when Jamison got hurt as he finished up with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 1 blocked shot in 24 minutes on the floor.  The Cavaliers are now 11-48 on the year.

Ramon Sessions is having a nice month for the Cleveland Cavaliers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Saturday 26 February 2011 at 11:22 pm

24-year old point guard Ramon Sessions is having a good month for the Cavs.  He has played in 10 games so far in February and he is averaging 35.2 minutes, 19.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, 8.7 assists and 1.9 steals per game.  He is shooting a scalding 57.5% from the floor so far this month.  Sessions has now played in 57 games (23 starts) for the Cavaliers this season and he is averaging 26.1 minutes, 12.6 points, 3.0 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game.  Despite Sessions great play this month it sounds as if Byron Scott is planning on starting Baron Davis over him.

Cleveland Cavaliers 115, New York Knicks 109

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game recaps,General by admin on Saturday 26 February 2011 at 5:22 am

The Cavaliers brought great effort tonight as they outrebounded the Knicks 62-42 and it was a big factor in the nice home win.  Antawn Jamison led the way for the Cavs tonight with 28 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot.  J.J. Hickson (24 points, 15 rebounds, 1 assist and 5 blocked shots) and Ramon Sessions (22 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals) also had really good games last night.  Anthony Parker (16 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot) and Alonzo Gee (11 points, 6 rebounds and 1 blocked shot in 24 minutes) also had solid games for the Cavs last night.  The Cavaliers are now 11-47 on the year.

The Cleveland Cavaliers release Leon Powe

Blogged under Big Cavaliers News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General by admin on Friday 25 February 2011 at 1:23 am

The Cleveland Cavaliers have released 27-year old power forward.  Powe played in 14 games (3 starts) for the Cavaliers this season and he averaged 13.4 minutes, 5.0 points, 2.7 rebounds and 0.1 assists per game.  He played in 34 games (5 starts) in parts of two years with the Cavs and he averaged 12.4 minutes, 4.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and 0.1 assists per game.  Some team will pick him up but he just hasn’t looked the same since he hurt his knee before he came to Cleveland.  The Cavs just don’t have any minutes left for Powe so they did him a favor by releasing him.

The Cleveland Cavaliers acquire Semih Erden & Luke Harangody from the Celtics

Blogged under Big Cavaliers News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General by admin on Friday 25 February 2011 at 1:16 am

The Cleveland Cavaliers have acquired 24-year old rookie center Semih Erden and 23-year old rookie forward Luke Harangody from the Boston Celtics for Minnesota’s 2nd round pick in 2013.  Erden is a 7’0″, 240 pound center out of Turkey and he was a 2nd round pick last June.  He played in 37 games (7 starts) for the Celtics this season and he averaged 14.4 minutes, 4.1 points, 2.9 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game.  Erden is shooting 59.8% from the floor with a lot of his shots coming from close range.  But, he is only shooting 63% from the free throw line which he needs to improve on.  Erden gives the Cavs nice size and a tough guy in the paint.  Luke Harangody played in 28 games (0 starts) for the Celtics this season and he averaged 8.6 minutes, 2.3 points, 2.0 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game.  But, he is only shooting 39.4% from the floor but the Cavs think he’ll improve in that area with consistent P.T.  The Cavaliers have nothing to lose by getting Semih Erden and Luke Harangody on the court quite a bit the rest of the way.  This was a outstanding trade for the Cavs as they really didn’t give up much for these guys.

The Cleveland Cavaliers deal Mo Williams & Jamario Moon to the Clippers

Blogged under Big Cavaliers News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General by admin on Thursday 24 February 2011 at 12:23 pm

The Cavaliers have dealt 28-year old shooting guard Mo Williams & 30-year old small forward Jamario Moon to the Clippers for 31-year point guard Baron Davis and the Clippers’ first round pick in 2011.  Williams played in 36 games (34 starts) for the Cavs this season and he averaged 29.6 minutes, 13.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game.  He has played in 186 games (183 starts) in his three years with the Cavs and he averaged 33.6 minutes, 16.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game.  Williams just hasn’t been the same player this season but maybe a change of scenery will do him some good.  Jamario Moon played in 40 games (13 starts) for the Cavs this season and he averaged 19.1 minutes, 4.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.  Moon played in 101 games (15 starts) in two years with the Cavaliers in which he averaged 18.0 minutes, 4.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game.  Moon won’t be missed too much, if at all, the rest of the year.

Baron Davis really likes Byron Scott so maybe he will play well for the Cavs.  Davis played in 43 games (35 starts) for the Clippers last season and he averaged 29.5 minutes, 12.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 1.4 steals per game.  He has now played in 791 games (669 starts) in his NBA career and he is averaging 34.9 minutes, 16.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, 7.3 assists and 1.9 steals per game.  The Cavaliers wanted the dr aft pick more than they wanted Davis as the Clippers’ pick is very likely to be in the lottery.  This was a good deal for the rebuilding Cleveland Cavaliers.

Houston Rockets 124, Cleveland Cavaliers 119

The Cavs were outrebounded 57-37 last night and it killed them in the end.  Antawn Jamison led the way for the Cavaliers last night with 26 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot.  Manny Harris (21 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists in 26 minutes), Ramon Sessions (20 points, 3 rebounds, 12 assists and 1 steal) and Anthony Parker (19 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals and 1 blocked shot) also had good offensive games for the Cavs last night.  Samardo Samuels (12 points) and Jamario Moon (11 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 blocked shots in 29 minutes) also pitched in for the Cavaliers last night.  The Cavaliers are now 10-47 on the year.

The Cleveland Cavaliers had a first half to forget

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General by admin on Tuesday 22 February 2011 at 1:09 pm

The Cleveland Cavaliers finished the first half with a 10-46 record going into the All-Star Break.  The Cavaliers are in last place in the Central Division, 29 games behind the Bulls.  The Cavs are also in last place in the Eastern Conference, 31 games behind the Bulls and they are 15 games behind the Pacers for the last playoff spot.  The Cavaliers season will be over in April this year.  Injuries and Inexperience did the Cavs in this season.

BIGGEST SURPRISE:  It isn’t really a surprise to see 34-year old forward Antawn Jamison playing well.  But, he has been the best offensive player on the Cavs this season.  He started the season coming off the bench but that didn’t last too long.  Jamison has played in 53 games (35 starts) for the Cavs so far this season and he is averaging 32.8 minutes, 17.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.  If the Cavaliers don’t trade Jamison before the trade deadline, he’s definitely going to lead them in scoring.

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT:  28-year old point guard Mo Williams almost wanted to quit when LeBron James left Cleveland over the winter and it shows in his play.  He has played in 36 games (34 starts) for the Cavs so far this year and he is averaging 29.6 minutes, 13.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game.  Williams’ shooting has been awful this season as he is only hitting 38.5% from the floor and 26.5% from three point range.  The Cavaliers are going to probably try to deal Williams by this Thursday.  If they can’t move him by Thursday, they will need him to step up and be the player he was last season.

Cleveland Cavaliers 104, Los Angeles Lakers 99

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game recaps,General by admin on Thursday 17 February 2011 at 4:17 am

The Cavaliers looked inspired tonight despite getting outrebounded 48-38 by the Lakers.  The Cavs got sweet revenge on a Lakers’ team that buried them 112-57 in L.A. earlier this year.  Ramon Sessions led the way for the Cavaliers tonight with 32 points, 1 rebound, 8 assists and 3 steals in 36 minutes off the bench.  Antawn Jamison (19 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot) and Anthony Parker (18 points, 3 rebounds, 9 assists and 1 steal) also had solid games for the Cavs tonight.  J.J. Hickson (13 points, 15 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 blocked shot) and Christian Eyenga (10 points, 2 rebounds and 3 steals) also pitched in for the Cavs tonight.  The Cavaliers are now 10-46 on the year.

Washington Wizards 115, Cleveland Cavaliers 100

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game recaps,General by admin on Monday 14 February 2011 at 2:17 pm

The Cavaliers came out flat last night as they fell behind 68-46 at the half.  They didn’t play any D last night either as the Wizards shot 54.3% from the floor and it did them in.  Antawn Jamison led the way for the Cavs once again last night with 21 points and 7 rebounds.  J.J. Hickson had another outstanding game for the Cavs last night with 16 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists.  Ramon Sessions was solid with 14 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals and 1 blocked shot in 25 minutes off the bench.  Jamario Moon (12 points), Mo Williams (10 points) and Anthony Parker (10 points) also pitched in for the Cavs last night.  The Cavaliers are now 9-46 on the season.
