Are the Cleveland Cavaliers really offering Zydrunas Ilgauskas around in trades?

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General by alleyoop on Monday 11 January 2010 at 8:22 pm

34-year old back-up center Zydrunas Ilgauskas is important to the Cavaliers as he has been a solid back-up to Shaquille O’Neal. But, his expiring contract has a lot of value on the trade market as rumors have Antwan Jamison and Troy Murphy’s names attached to big Z’s name. If those are straight up trades I would make either one of them or I might be willing to throw in some draft picks but I wouldn’t add a J.J. Hickson or Daniel Gibson in that kind of deal. Ilgauskas has played in 38 games (6 starts) for the Cavs this season and he is averaging 21.5 minutes, 7.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. He has played in 745 games (643 starts) in his career with the Cavaliers and he is averaging 28.6 minutes, 14.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.2 asssits and 1.7 blocked shots per game. Ilguaskas now has 5,769 rebounds which has him #151 all-time in NBA history and he has 1,251 blocked shots which has him #45 all-time in the league. Even if Z gets traded he will still be thought of as one of the best centers in team history.

LeBron James is the man for the Cleveland Cavaliers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by alleyoop on Monday 11 January 2010 at 8:15 pm

It’s amazing to think that LeBron James is only 25 years old. He has played in 39 games (all starts) this season for the Cavaliers and he is averaging 38.5 minutes, 29.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, 7.7 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.9 blocked shots per game. He is also shooting an amazing 50.6% from the floor this season as he is taking his game up another level. He has now played in 511 games (510 starts) in his career with the Cavs and he is averaging 40.4 minutes, 27.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, 6.8 assists, 1.7 steals and 0.9 blocked shots per game. James has now scored 14,131 points in his NBA career which has him ranked #132 of all-time despite only being 25 years old. He also has 3,461 assists which has him #124 on the all-time list in NBA history. James also has 885 steals in his career which has him tied with Tom Chambers for 176th. If James stays healthy he will be near the top of the NBA all-time lists in almost every category.

Roy Hinson was a very important part of Cleveland Cavaliers’ history

Blogged under Blast from the Past,Bloglockers,Front Page,General by alleyoop on Monday 11 January 2010 at 9:13 am

Power forward Roy Hinson only played three years for the Cavaliers. He played in 238 games (218 starts) in his time with the Cavaliers and he averaged 29.6 minutes, 13.6 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 1.8 blocked shots per game. Hinson was one of the only reasons to tune in and what the Cavs because he was awesome around the basket as he loved to dunk over anyone and anytime. He also was a outstanding defensive player and a solid rebound. In his three years with the Cavs they compiled a 93-153 record (37.8%). Hinson’s biggest contribution for the Cavs however was what they got for him when they traded him to the Philadelphia 76ers. That was a rookie center named Brad Daugherty. Daugherty only played 8 years with the Cavaliers before retiring due to a bad back. But, he played in 548 games (546 starts) with the Cavs and he averaged 36.5 minutes, 19.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. Daugherty led the Cavs to 7 playoff appearances in the 8 years he played with them as they compiled a 363-293 (55.3%) record. Daugherty was one of the players who revived the Cavaliers and Cavs’ fans can thank Roy Hinson for that.

Danny Green is not getting much P.T. for the Cleveland Cavaliers this season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Rookie Report by alleyoop on Thursday 7 January 2010 at 9:12 am

It’s hard being the 12th man on a team with championship goals and Danny Green is finding that out. SG/SF Green has played in 7 games (0 starts) for the Cavaliers this season and he is averaging 2.7 minutes, 1.7 points and 0.7 rebounds per game. Green has skills but the Cavs will only like see them in blowout wins or losses in the 4th quarter.

The Cleveland Cavaliers waive Coby Karl

Blogged under Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General by alleyoop on Wednesday 6 January 2010 at 8:34 pm

The Cavaliers have waived back-up SF/SG Coby Karl. Karl played in 3 games (0 starts) for the Cavs this season and he averaged 1.7 minutes, 0.0 points and 0.7 rebounds per game. The Cavaliers won’t miss Karl but it was nice for them to give ex-Cavs Coach George Karl’s son play a little bit for them this year as it was the place the senior Karl’s NBA coaching career began.

The Cleveland Cavaliers will be without Jamario Moon for a while

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injuries by alleyoop on Wednesday 6 January 2010 at 8:52 am

The Cavaliers will be without back-up forward Jarmario Moon for a week or two due to a strained abdomen. Moon has played in 31 games (0 starts) for the Cavs this season and he is averaging 17.8 minutes, 5.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. The Cavs will miss Moon’s energy and defense off the bench. Anthony Parker, Delonte West and Daniel Gibson will likely share Moon’s minutes while he is out of action.

Daniel Gibson is starting to lose minutes for the Cleveland Cavaliers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General by alleyoop on Saturday 2 January 2010 at 8:25 am

Back-up guard Daniel Gibson is starting to lose minutes to Delonte West and it’s no fault of his own. West has really stepped up lately and he has moved ahead of Gibson on the depth chart. Gibson has played in 31 games (0 starts) for the Cavs this season and he is averaging 18.2 minutes, 6.4 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game. Gibson’s main asset is his shooting as he has nailed a stunning 48.8% from three point range. I still think the Cavs should find a way to get Gibson some minutes as he is a good, young basketball player. But, I also realize that Coach Brown has to put his best team on the court every single night.
