The Cavaliers shot 51.3% from the floor last night but they were outrebounded 38-28 by the Jazz which kept the game close. The Cavs were without Shaquille O’Neal in this game as he has a strained shoulder. LeBron James led the way for the Cavs with 21 points, 6 rebounds, 9 assists and 2 steals. Mo Williams also had another solid game with 21 points, 1 rebound, 6 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots. J.J. Hickson pitched in with another solid game finishing with 20 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists. The Cavaliers are now 7-3 on the year.

The Cleveland Cavaliers don’t have much playing time for rookies

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Rookie Report by alleyoop on Saturday 14 November 2009 at 2:51 pm

The Cavaliers’ goal is to win the NBA Championship this season so there won’t be many minutes for 22-year old rookie SG/SF Danny Green. Green has played in 1 game this season for the Cavs playing one scoreless minute. The Cavaliers are very deep at Green’s positions so only look for him to play in garbage time unless the team suffers a few injuries.

Cleveland Cavaliers 111, Miami Heat 104

The Cavaliers had enough left in the tank after dealing with Orlando on Wednesday to beat the Heat in Miami last night. LeBron James led the way for the Cavaliers last night with 34 points, 4 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals. Mo Williams had another monster game with 25 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Williams was also a dead eye from long range hitting 5 of 7 three point shots. J.J. Hickson was very solid near the basket for the Cavs last night with 18 points, 4 rebounds and 1 assists in 31 minutes on the court. The Cavaliers are now 6-3 on the year.

Cleveland Cavaliers 103, Orlando Magic 92

Sitting in Amway Arena before the start of this game I was thinking to myself that the Cavs have to send a message to Magic tonight. That they did with a perfect gameplan. The Cavs fed the ball to Shaquille O’Neal early in the game and Dwight Howard got two fouls before I could even finish up what I was drinking. That really showed how weak the Magic are without Howard as the Cavaliers pushed them around and led the game 88-68 heading into the 4th quarter. The final score really doesn’t indicate what a mis-match this was last night as the Cavs dominated this basketball game. LeBron James led the way for the Cavs with 36 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists last night. Mo Williams had his best game of the year by far for the Cavs with 28 points, 1 rebound and 6 assists. Shaq only had to play 19 minutes last night in which he scored 10 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and he blocked two shots. The Cavaliers are now 5-3 on the season and the message was sent loud and clear to the Magic that they will have to improve from last night to deal with them this year.

Anderson Varejao is playing well for the Cleveland Cavaliers this season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by alleyoop on Monday 9 November 2009 at 2:39 pm

Power forward Anderson Varejao is playing pretty good basketball this season. He has played in 7 games (6 starts) for the Cavaliers this season and he is averaging 32.4 minutes, 8.6 points, 9.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.7 steals per game. Varejao isn’t taking as many charges as he has in the past but his offensive game seems to have improved as he has been attacking the basket quite often. The Cavs feed off Varejao’s energy so it’s smart that they are playing him over 30 minutes per night.

Cleveland Cavaliers 100, New York Knicks 91

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game recaps,General by alleyoop on Saturday 7 November 2009 at 8:52 am

The Cavaliers built a 63-40 lead at the half and then cruised to a very easy win over the Knicks. The Cavs shot 53.5% from the floor in this game and they outrebounded the Knicks 46-31 and those were two huge reasons for this win. LeBron James led the way for the Cavs in this game with 33 points, 8 rebounds, 9 assists and 3 steals. Mo Williams pitched in with 12 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists in this game. Daniel Gibson was solid off the bench with 11 points in only 20 minutes on the floor. Zydrunas Ilgauskas (9 points and 11 rebounds in only 24 minutes) and Anderson Varejao (8 points, 14 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots) were both forces off the bench in this game for the Cavs. The Cavaliers are now 4-3 on the season.

Chicago Bulls 86, Cleveland Cavaliers 85

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game recaps,General by alleyoop on Friday 6 November 2009 at 8:25 am

The Cavaliers just couldn’t finish this game last night in Cleveland as it appeared that the Bulls wanted it more. LeBron James led the way for the Cavs in this game with 25 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Shaquille O’Neal had another really solid game for the Cavaliers with 14 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocked shots. Anderson Varejao was electric last night as he scored 12 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. The Cavaliers are off to a very disappointing 3-3 start to the 2009-2010 season.

Cleveland Cavaliers 102, Washington Wizards 90

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game recaps,General by alleyoop on Wednesday 4 November 2009 at 10:26 am

The Cavaliers came out flat last night as the Wizards ran out to a 31-17 lead after one quarter. The Cavs outscored the Wizards 85-59 in the final three quarters and they played good defense last night holding the Wizards to 39% shooting from the floor. LeBron James led the way for the Cavs in this game with 27 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals. Shaq had his best game of the year so far for the Cavs last night with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Mo Williams did a good job of running the show on offense for the Cavs last night with 15 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists. The Cavaliers are now 3-2 on the season.

Zydrunas Ilgauskas is adjusting well to his role coming off the bench for the Cleveland Cavaliers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by alleyoop on Tuesday 3 November 2009 at 5:02 pm

The Cavaliers weren’t sure how well Zydrunas Ilgauskas would take to coming off the bench but he’s turning into a pretty good sixth man for them. He has played in all 4 games (0 starts) for the Cavs this season and he is averaging 22.0 minutes, 8.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 1.3 blocked shots per game. He is also shooting 53.6% from the floor which is pretty darn good. Ilgauskas has been solid at both center and power forward for the Cavaliers so far this season and there is no reason to think that won’t continue.

Cleveland Cavaliers 90, Charlotte Bobcats 78

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game recaps,General by alleyoop on Sunday 1 November 2009 at 8:14 am

The Cavaliers took advantage of the Bobcats being tired last night as the Cavs shot an outstanding 58.1% from the floor. Mo Williams led the way for the Cavs on offense last night with 24 points and 3 assists. LeBron James was the ultimate team player last night as he was looking for teammates to get shots instead of him. He finished with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists last night. Anthony Parker had another solid night for the Cavs with 13 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. The big story of last night’s game was the debut of Delonte West who finished with 13 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists in only 24 minutes on the court. The Cavaliers are now 2-2 on the season with this win.
