The Cavaliers have signed 28-year old forward Jamario Moon to a 2-year, $6 million dollar contract. Moon played in 80 games (60 starts) with the Raptors and Heat last season and he averaged 25.9 minutes, 7.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.1 steals per game. Moon was no doubt signed to help the Cavs’ defense as he is a all-out effort player. Moon has now played in 158 games (135 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 26.8 minutes, 7.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.0 steal and 1.0 blocked shot per game. This was a outstanding signing for the Cavaliers.

First round pick Christian Eyenga has agreed to a 3-year extension with his old Spanish Club, DKV Jovenut. The Cavaliers need to start drafting more players from the United States, period. This was a waste of a first round pick.

Blogged under Comings & Goings, General, Bloglockers, Big Cavaliers News, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 9 July 2009 at 4:57 pm

The Cavaliers have signed 34-year old SG/SF Anthony Parker. Parker played in 80 games (71 starts) for the Raptors last season and he averaged 33.0 minutes, 10.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.2 steals per game. Parker will likely bump Delonte West to the bench because of his defense and long range shooting. Parker has now played in 290 games (226 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 27.9 minutes, 10.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. Parker has been a very solid shooter from 3-point range in his career sticking 41.5% of his attempts behind the arc. This was a good signing for the Cavaliers.

The Cleveland Cavaliers re-sign Anderson Varejao

Blogged under Comings & Goings, General, Bloglockers, Big Cavaliers News, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 9 July 2009 at 4:53 pm

The Cavaliers have re-signed Anderson “Wild Thing” Varejao to a 6-year contract worth $50 million bucks. The 26-year old Varejao will be the undisputed starting power forward for the Cavs going into this season. He played in 81 games (42 starts) for the Cavaliers last season and he averaged 28.5 minutes, 8.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game. Varejao has now played in 312 games (65 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 23.0 minutes, 6.6 points, 6.5 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. Varejao’s effort, rebounding and defense made it a very easy decision to re-sign Varejao.
