The Cavaliers bought Sasha Kaun from the Sonics last night. Kaun is 6’11″, 250 pounds so he has nice size but chances are that he will play in Russia this season. Kaun played in 135 games (65 starts) at Kansas and he averaged 6.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 0.3 assists and 1.1 blocked shots per game. It never hurts to add a player for just cash.

2. (52) Darnell Jackson, PF

The Cleveland Cavaliers acquired Darnell Jackson from the Heat last night after the draft for the lower of the Cavs’ 2009 2nd round draft picks. Jackson is 6’8″, 250 pounds and he plays near the basket a lot. Jackson played in 125 games (39 starts) for Kansas and he averaged 6.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game. He also shot 58% from the floor at Kansas but a lot of that was on putbacks and dunks. Still, the Cavaliers like Jackson as a player but he will start out way down at the bottom of the depth chart at power forward for the Cavs.

1. (19) J.J. Hickson, PF

The Cleveland Cavaliers added a young power forward with potential to start down the road. This could wind up leading to a trade as a lot of teams like Anderson Varejao but the Cavs would be dumb to do that unless they get a player like Michael Redd for him. Hickson is 6’9″, 242 pounds and he has room to grow as he is only 19 years old right now. Hickson played in 31 games (26 starts) in his freshman year and North Carolina State and he averaged 14.8 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 1.5 blocked shots per game. Most of his shots come near the basket as he hit 59.1% of his shots from the floor last year. Hickson has a nice upside and he was well worth this pick.
