The Trailblazers should advise their fans to not tick off LeBron James. Inspired by a heckler, James took over this basketball game scoring 17 points in the 4th quarter. The Cavaliers will likely be without reserve forward/center Anderson Varejao for up to a month with a Grade 2 Ankle Sprain. Varejao has played in 22 games (0 starts) this season for the Cavaliers and he is averaging 28.5 minutes, 7.8 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. Drew Gooden and Zydrunas Ilguaskas will likely see a bump in playing time with “Wild Thing” out of action. Gooden has played in 43 games (all starts) this season for the Cavs and he is averaging 31.3 minutes, 11.5 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game. The Cleveland Cavaliers lose Sasha Pavlovic for 6-8 weeks

Blogged under Big Cavaliers News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injuries by alleyoop on Monday 28 January 2008 at 8:43 pm

The Cavs have lost starting shooting guard Sasha Pavlovic for the next 6-8 weeks due to a mid foot sprain. Pavlovic has played in 38 games (35 starts) this season for the Cavaliers and he is averaging 24.5 minutes, 7.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. He has never found his shooting touch this season either as he’s only hitting 35.1% of his shots from the floor. Daniel Gibson will likely pick up some of Pavlovic’s playing time and that’s a good thing. Gibson has played in 41 games (26 starts) this season and he is averaging 32.6 minutes, 11.9 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. Gibson also is a good shooter from anywhere on the court as he is hitting 45.4% of his shots from the floor, 46.8% of his three point attempts and 79.8% of his free throws. Devin Brown could also see a bump in playing time while Pavlovic is out. Brown has played in 39 games (2 starts) this season and he is averaging 20.8 minutes, 6.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. Brown is only shooting 39.7% from the floor and the Cavs need him to improve on that.

The Cleveland Cavaliers need to bench Larry Hughes

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Need to step up,Uncategorized by alleyoop on Saturday 5 January 2008 at 2:57 pm

Mike Brown is proving that he’s not a good coach by starting Larry Hughes out of position at point guard over Daniel Gibson who has played well all season. Hughes has been hoisting brick after brick all season long because he thinks he’s a jump shooter and he’s not a good one. Hughes is a shooting guard who is best on the fast break or on drives to the basket. Hughes has played in 19 games so far this season for the Cavs and he is averaging 28.1 minutes, 9.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game. He is shooting an awful 32.7% from the floor and 26.7% from three point range which just proves that he should take a seat on the bench. Daniel Gibson on the other hand is an outstanding shooter as he’s hit 47.1% from the floor and 48.7% from three point range which is outstanding. Gibson has now played in 31 games this season for the Cavs and he is averaging 33.2 minutes, 12.5 points, 2.6 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. He deserves to start and play big minutes.
