The Cleveland Cavs are getting great production from their big men

Anderson Varejao is acting like a punk demanding $9 million bucks a year and saying he doesn’t want to be a Cavalier anymore. So the Cavs have had to give Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Drew Gooden more minutes than they probably wanted to and the results have been good. Z has played in 16 games this season and he’s averaged 33.5 minutes, 14.5 points, 11.4 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 1.8 blocks per game so far this season. Ilgauskas’ range has gotten much better shooting the ball but he should dunk the ball instead of tipping it in. Drew Gooden has also been playing very well for the Cavs this season. He has played in 16 games this season and he’s averaged 35.3 minutes, 14.7 points, 10.0 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game. The Cavs need these two guys to keep up the good work and support LeBron James. If they do the Cavs are going to win a lot of games this season.

LeBron James is playing like the King of the NBA for the Cleveland Cavaliers

LeBron James has taken his play to a new level this season. He has played in 16 games this season and he has averaged 39.8 minutes, 30.7 points, 7.6 rebounds, 8.1 assists, 1.9 steals and 1.5 blocks per game this season. This might be the season that LeBron James finally wins the MVP of the NBA because of how he’s playing at both ends of the basketball court. He has improved his defense and free throw shooting in the off-season so other teams better look out!

The Cleveland Cavaliers lose Larry Hughes for a while

Blogged under Bloglockers, Big Cavaliers News, Injuries, Front Page by alleyoop on Wednesday 21 November 2007 at 5:12 pm

Starting shooting guard Larry Hughes will miss the next four weeks with a deep bone bruise in his left leg. Hughes has not played well at all for the Cavs this season. He has played in 6 games (all starts) and he has averaged 27.3 minutes, 6.8 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.7 steals per game. Hughes has been heaving bricks up to the rim in alarming fashion as he has only hit 29.3% of his shots from the floor and 66.7% from the free throw line so far this season. Sasha Pavlovic has taken over as the starting shooting guard for now and he isn’t playing that well either. Pavlovic has played in 8 games (5 starts) so far this season and he has averaged 24.6 minutes, 6.5 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. He also isn’t shooting the ball too well as he has only hit 32.8% of his shots this season. Devin Brown will also see a bump in minutes as a result of Hughes injury. He has played in 10 games (0 starts) so far this season and he has averaged 24.3 minutes, 7.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.

Orlando Magic 117, Cleveland Cavaliers 116 in OT

Blogged under Bloglockers, Game recaps, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 15 November 2007 at 8:10 pm

The Cavaliers gave a great effort in this game but came up just a tad short in OT. LeBron James had a monster game with 39 points, 13 rebounds and 14 assists. Drew Gooden also had a really solid game last night with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Zydrunas Ilgauskas was solid last night until he fouled out in OT as he scored 18 points and snapped down 11 rebounds. Daniel Gibson was a deadeye last night as he made every shot he took last night as he finished with 16 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists. The Cavs are now 4-5 on the season.

Denver Nuggets 122, Cleveland Cavaliers 100

The Cavs looked tired last night against the Nuggets and that was a recipe for disaster. The Nuggets shot 55% from the floor in this game which showed how badly the defense played for the Cavs in this game. LeBron James got his as he finished with 27 points, 1 rebound, 4 assists and 2 steals. Ira Newble had one of his best games ever for the Cavs with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists off of the bench. Shannon Brown also played really well as he finished with 12 points in only 16 minutes. The Cavs are now 4-4 on the season.
