LeBron James playing well this season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Steppin Up by Nothing but Net on Friday 9 February 2007 at 12:40 am

LeBron James set the bar so high last season with his breakout performance. He played so well last season that it looks to a lot of people like he’s been a disappointment this season….but that thinking is ridiculous! LeBron is averaging 26.3 points, 6.9 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 1.6 steals per game this season. Those are numbers most players would kill for. James is shooting 47.4% from the floor, 34.1% from three-point range but only 68.6% from the free throw line. James should quit kissing his wrists and look at the rim when he shoots his free throws because their is no excuse for missing so many free throws when you’re as good of a shooter as he is. It’s hurting the team because he gets fouled a lot. Hopefully, James will straighten that out in the second half of the season.

The Cavs blast the Clippers 94-77 in Cleveland

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game recaps by Nothing but Net on Thursday 8 February 2007 at 11:29 am

The Cavs hit the boards (54-42) and they played great defense as they held the Clippers to 34.6% shooting from the floor and that’s why they won so easily last night. Zydrunas Ilgauskas had a great game with 16 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. Sasha Pavlovic had another really solid game with 16 points and 5 rebounds. Larry Hughes also showed up for once and scored 15 points, grabbed 3 rebounds and dished out 4 assists.

The Cavs improved to 28-21 on the season with this win. http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=270207005

Cavaliers fall 90-78 to the Pistons in Cleveland

Blogged under Front Page,Game recaps by Nothing but Net on Sunday 4 February 2007 at 11:39 pm

The Cavs came out flat today and the Pistons made them pay! LeBron James led the way for the Cavs with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Larry Hughes had a decent game with 14 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists. Zydrunas Ilgauskas played hard as he scored 12 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, stole the ball 2 times and blocked 2 shots.

Daniel Gibson making Danny Ferry look good

Blogged under Front Page,Rookie Report by Nothing but Net on Saturday 3 February 2007 at 6:43 pm

The Cavaliers considered taking Daniel Gibson in the first round because they liked him so much, but when Shannon Brown dropped to them in the first round Danny Ferry shifted gears and selected Brown. He tried desperately to trade up to snag Gibson, but he fell into their lap in the second round. Ferry and the Cavs were probably doing backflips in the teams’ offices. Daniel Gibson has now been elevated to the starting line-up to replace Eric Snow and he’s done well in his first three games. He reminds me a lot of Tony Parker of the San Antonio Spurs because he’s not a pass-first point guard. He’s also very fast and has a nice jump shot. He has played in 35 games this season and is averaging 15.4 minutes, 4.9 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists. Look for all of those numbers to jump now that he’s a starter. He also has hit 32 of 69 (46.4%) from three point range and he’ll make the opposition pay for packing the defense in the paint against the Cavs.

1st round pick Shannon Brown has been a huge disappointment for the Cavs. He’s only played in 10 games and is averaging 10.3 minutes, 2.5 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.7 assists. His shooting has also been awful as he’s only 10 of 33 (30.3%) shooting from the floor.

The Cavaliers get an easy win 101-81 over the Bobcats in Cleveland

Blogged under Front Page,Game recaps by Nothing but Net on Saturday 3 February 2007 at 10:39 am

The Cavs rushed out to a 50-34 halftime lead and never looked back. The Cavs also hit the boards hard as they outrebounded the Bobcats 45-34. LeBron James led the way for the Cavs with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists. Drew Gooden also had a solid game with 16 points and 6 rebounds.

The Cavaliers improved to 27-20 on the season with this win. http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=270202005

The Cavaliers fall apart in 92-89 loss to the Heat in Miami

Blogged under Front Page,Game recaps by Nothing but Net on Friday 2 February 2007 at 12:21 pm

This was an awful loss for the Cavaliers. They were outscored 34-23 in the 4th quarter by the Heat (24 points by Dwyane Wade in the quarter)! The Cavs were outrebounded 44-32 by the Heat, but the real reason the Cavs lost this game was their poor free throw shooting. The Cavs only hit 15 of 24 free throws (62.5%) last night and that is unacceptable! Daniel Gibson came to play as he led the Cavs in scoring with 19 points and he hit 4 of 6 three point shots. LeBron James had an awful game last night and was a key contributor in the loss for the Cavs. He only shot 6 of 18 from the floor….but what killed the Cavs was that he only hit 3 of 8 free throws! James finished with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists.

The Cavs fell to 26-20 on the season with this loss. http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=270201014
